Se trata de un estudio de validación sobre el valor social subjetivo de la educación entre Argentina, España y República Dominicana, utilizando una metodología de investigación mixta desarrollada con 251 docentes, mediante una encuesta online y grupos focales. El constructo teórico es analizado y evaluado en función de su rele- vancia y susceptibilidad al cambio a través de la validación cruzada entre tres contextos. Los resultados muestran un acuerdo estadísticamente significativo en cada país, así como diferencias significativas entre ellos. El concepto en cuestión es esencial a escala internacional, ya que reflexiona sobre el potencial de la propia educación. El estudio constituye un avance, pues va más allá de hacer asociaciones entre el nivel socioeconómico y cultural de las familias y el rendimiento académico; también pueden existir aspectos subjetivos, como se indica en relación con el constructo, que pueden afectar diferencialmente al proceso educativo según el contexto.
La educación ha significado, a través de la historia, una clave esencial en torno a la mejora de las sociedades en distintos planos (Delors, 1996). A nivel internacional la educación es una de las principales herramientas de desarrollo humano económico y social, tal y como se plasma en los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio (Gabay, 2015); en consonancia, consideramos el hecho educativo como algo fundamental para que cualquier país o región pueda prosperar, como algo primordial hacia el progreso social de todas las personas (McGrath, 2010). En cualquier caso, como afirma Morin (2000), la educación, en sí misma, es muy valiosa.
